Capypine Open EatOutLog

For diners

What is EatOutLog?

A food journal for eating out. You log the dishes you order at restaurants, rate each one and say whether you would order it again. Over time it becomes a record of everything you have eaten and loved, and a way to find good dishes through people whose taste you trust. How EatOutLog works walks through it.

Does it cost anything?

No. EatOutLog is free and shows ads. If you would rather not see them, Remove ads is a one-time purchase in the app, with no subscription. It applies to your account, so it works on every phone you sign in on and on the website.

Where do I get the app?

Visits are logged in the iPhone and Android apps, which are in testing now and will open to everyone soon. You can already sign in on the web at app.capypine.com to browse dishes and restaurants, read your log and manage your account, with the same account you use in the app.

Can I log a visit on the website?

Not yet. Visits and dishes are logged in the app, usually at the table. Everything you log shows up on the website right away, where you can read your full log and stats.

How do I sign in?

With Google, with Apple, or with an email address and password. Apple sign-in is available on iPhone and on the EatOutLog website. Each method is its own account, so sign in the same way each time. If you signed up with Google or Apple and want a password as well, use Forgot password and we will email you a link to add one.

Is there an age limit?

EatOutLog is for people aged 13 and older. We ask for your birth date once, to confirm it, and never show it to anyone.

Who can see what I post?

The dishes you post, with their ratings, notes and photos, are public on EatOutLog. Your email address, birth date, receipt photos and the location saved with a visit are private. Your Taste Profile is private unless you turn it on. You can hide your check-ins from your followers in Settings, and block anyone you do not want to see your dishes.

The restaurant I went to isn't on EatOutLog. What do I do?

Log a visit and search for it. The search uses Google Maps, so most restaurants are found by name. If it still does not appear, type the name and address yourself and it is added for everyone.

Can a restaurant remove my rating?

No. Restaurants cannot edit or remove ratings, even if they have claimed their page or pay for a plan. Our moderators only remove content that breaks the rules, such as a fake visit, a photo that is not of food, or abuse. How ratings work explains the rules that keep ratings honest.

How do I report something?

Open the menu on a dish, comment or profile and choose Report. Reports go to our moderators. You can also block the person so that neither of you sees the other's dishes.

How do I download or delete my data?

From the Data Request page, or in the app under Settings, then Account. A download includes everything you have logged. Deleting your account removes your account and what you posted, and cannot be undone.

How do I claim my restaurant?

Sign in, find your restaurant and choose Claim this restaurant. Tell us how you are connected to it, and attach something that shows it if you can, such as a business license or a utility bill in the business's name. Our team reviews every claim, and you get an email with the decision. Claiming is free.

What do I get after claiming?

A Verified owner badge on your page, the ability to keep your menu and details current, and a dashboard of your ratings. Paid plans add the full dish-by-dish analysis, nearby comparisons and promotion. See For restaurants.

Can I see who rated my restaurant?

Dishes are public, so you can see them the same way any diner can. Breakdowns such as meal and occasion are shown as totals only. Private notes from diners who would not return are anonymous unless the diner chose to share contact details.

A rating seems unfair. What can I do?

You can reply in the comments like anyone else. If a rating looks fake, for example from someone who never visited, report it and our moderators will look at it. We do not remove genuine ratings because they are negative.
