Capypine Open EatOutLog

Why EatOutLog exists

EatOutLog is built around a simple problem: you go back to a restaurant you liked and cannot remember what you ordered last time. Photo rolls fill up with plates nobody labeled, and review sites tell you about the restaurant as a whole when the real question is which dish to get.

So EatOutLog is a log for the dish. You record what you ordered, how it tasted, and whether you would order it again. That record is useful to you on its own, and when enough people keep one, it turns into something bigger: a dish-by-dish picture of what is good at every restaurant, written by people who ate there.

What makes it different

  • The dish, not the restaurant. Ratings belong to individual menu items, so a great kitchen with a slow front of house is not punished for the wrong thing, and one standout dish at an ordinary place still gets found.
  • Would you order it again? Alongside the stars, every dish can carry a simple yes or no that often says more than the score.
  • Your taste, not the crowd's. Discover suggests places from what you rate highly and from people whose taste matches yours, not only from what is popular.

Working with restaurants

Restaurants can claim their page for free, keep their menu current, and see how each dish is rated. Paid plans add deeper analysis and promotion. What a restaurant can never buy is a better rating: restaurants cannot edit or remove ratings, and paying or rewarding diners for ratings is against our Restaurant Operator Terms. Promoted placements are always labeled.

How EatOutLog pays for itself

Three ways: ads in the app and on our websites, an optional one-time purchase that removes ads, and paid plans for restaurants. We do not sell your personal information. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.

What we hold ourselves to

  • Ratings come from real meals, and we act on fake ones.
  • What you log is yours. You can download it or delete your account at any time from the Data Request page.
  • Private things stay private: your email, birth date, receipts and the location of your visits are never shown to other people or to restaurants.
  • EatOutLog is for people 13 and older, and anyone under 18 only sees non-personalized ads.

The company

EatOutLog is made by Capypine LLC, a small independent company in the United States. If you have spotted our mascot, that is Chef Capy, a capybara who takes lunch very seriously.
