Capypine Open EatOutLog

Remember every dish you order, and whether you'd order it again.

Capypine makes EatOutLog, a food journal for eating out. Log what you ordered, rate each dish, and find your next meal through people whose taste you trust.

Free, with everything open from your first meal

You don't need an invite, a waitlist spot or a quota of ratings before the app opens up. Logging, ratings, Discover, your Taste Profile, badges and Want to go are all there the day you sign up, and they stay free. The only thing you can pay for is turning off ads.

Personal picks start once you've logged five restaurants. That's because they're built from your own ratings and need something to work from, not because you have to earn them.

Rate the dish, not the restaurant

Review sites give a restaurant one score, so a long wait or a loud room ends up counted against a kitchen that cooked well, and a great dish at an ordinary place gets buried. EatOutLog works one plate at a time.

Log what you ordered

Pick the restaurant, add each dish with a photo and a price, and fill in the rest whenever you like.

Rate it properly

Taste from half a star to five, plus value, appearance and texture if you want to say more.

Would you order it again?

One yes or no that often says more than the stars. Restaurants see the share of diners who would order each dish again.

Find your next meal

Discover suggests places and dishes from what you rate highly and from people whose taste is close to yours.

Know your own taste

Your Taste Profile shows the cuisines you reach for, your price range and how your ratings compare.

Keep a list

Save places to Want to go, earn badges as you eat your way around a city, and follow friends.

How a visit works

  1. Check in at the restaurant.Search by name, set the date, and add a menu photo if you like. Receipt photos stay private.
  2. Add each dish.Name, photo, ratings and a note in your own words. Only the name is required, so you can finish later.
  3. Come back to it.Next time you are deciding what to order, your notes are there, along with what other diners thought of the same dish.

Ratings restaurants can't buy

Restaurants can't edit or remove a rating, and paying diners for ratings is against the rules.

Owners and managers who rate their own restaurant are flagged for review, travel badges need a visit logged near the restaurant, and anyone can report a fake. How ratings work explains each score and the rules behind them.

For restaurants

Every dish a diner logs also tells a restaurant how its menu is landing. Claim your restaurant for free to see your ratings dish by dish, and add the Insights plan for the full dashboard: nearby comparisons, return visits, kitchen consistency and more.
